A bit about me...
Thanks for taking some time to tour my website. I’ve been working with wood in one form or another since 1996. I’ve been a student at The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding and at College of the Redwoods’ Fine Woodworking Program, built traditional wooden boats, remodeled old houses and framed new ones, taught hand tool woodworking to children, built custom cabinets and constructed solid wood furniture using primarily hand tools. During my years as a teacher, I began writing for Fine Homebuilding magazine. To see some of my writing, click on the articles link at the top of the page.

Since moving to San Diego in 2005, I have worked continuously as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker, first for a number of excellent contractors, including Fullerbuilt and Whitmann Construction, and later on my own. I have a C-6 contractor’s license (Cabinetmaking and Millwork). My projects have ranged from simple one day door hanging jobs, through bookshelves and small tables, to multi-month, whole house trim jobs, where I hung doors, ran trim, installed wainscoting, hung cabinets and constructed custom closets. On larger jobs, I’m lucky to be able to work with my brother, Alex. Aside from being a very cool guy, he is also an experienced carpenter, licensed contractor, and he has an architecture degree.

My background in many facets of the craft, my love of wood and tools, and the pleasure I get from my work can all be an advantage to you when looking for a contractor. Whether you need simple trim work done or a diminutive, dovetailed cabinet built to hold a family treasure, I hope you’ll contact me to see if my skills and your project are a good fit.

I appreciate your visit,
